The Spirit Of Campbell River
I grew up in Campbell River and recently I have been enjoying North Island Links
from Calgary Alberta via the world wide web. I'll tell you its a real treat to read about
Campbell River people and see pictures of all the beautiful sites back home.
As I take this journey home, I am reminded of that great Campbell River spirit.
And even though I am in awe with all the changes over the last 13 years I know
that the amazing spirit of my home town remains unchanged.
After seeing all these great pictures I am reminded of all the things I miss about
Campbell River. Simple things that some people might take for granted like enjoying an
ice cream cone on the Discovery Pier or just looking out at the ocean from the rocks
at the Foreshore park. I miss all the beautiful trees that line the Quinsam Trail. And even
good old Logger Mike, who is still standing tall overlooking Shoppers Row.
And the days when someone would turn the Big Rock into a pumpkin for
Halloween. All of those things and all of the Campbell River people is what makes
the spirit of this town special.
I'm looking forward to returning home for a visit this summer with my children.
I plan to check out the Salmon Fest and spend most of my time on the beach.
I would like to thank North Island Links for making it possible for me to
visit Campbell River right from my home.
